CMT2017 welcomes you to a knowledge-exchange day on June 14
The International Coastal and Marine Tourism Congress (CMT) is the world’s foremost congress related to tourism and recreation in coastal and marine environments and is attended by academics, students and practitioners from around the world. CMT was founded by Dr. Jan Auyong and Professor Marc L. Miller and the first congress was held in 1990 in Hawaii. The CMT2017 will be held in Gothenburg on the 13th-16th of June. The congress offers opportunities for presentation of refereed papers, poster exhibitions, workshops, conference tours and is an excellent arena for networking among stakeholders.
Exciting and engaging knowledge-exchange day
On June 14, you can join CMT on our knowledge-exchange day! The aim is to create settings where knowledge and ideas can be passed between stakeholders and new projects or business partnerships can be formed. The knowledge-exchange day is targeting researchers, practitioners, businesses, non-governmental organizations and public authorities from the coastal tourism and management sector to come together for an exciting and engaging day. Two different knowledge-exchange workshops will be arranged:
Meet with regional tourism actors – morning session
This workshop, arranged by the regional tourism organization, West Sweden Tourist Board, will display a selection of innovative tourism businesses and public projects from the Region Västra Götaland. All conference delegates are welcome to join the event and listen to tourism representatives who will give short talks about their experiences and offers as tourism entrepreneurs and developers in the region. This approach allows for direct contact between delegates and local tourism stakeholders with opportunities to ask questions, share best practice knowledge and establish contacts for further dialogue.
The Maritime Clusters Matchmaking Arena – afternoon session
This workshop is also open for all delegates and aims to create an arena for direct matchmaking between businesses, researchers and other stakeholders. The Maritime Cluster of West Sweden and the Nelson Mandela Bay Maritime Cluster in Port Elizabeth, South Africa will host the workshop. The workshop starts off with presentations about the role of clusters for business innovation and sustainable growth. This is followed by a speed-dating activity with face-to-face meetings at different tables. Do not miss this unique opportunity to share knowledge and create partnerships between businesses and researchers across continents.
The programme on June 14 also includes two central Keynote Speakers. Professor Dianne Dredge from the Department of Culture and Global Studies, Aalborg University-Copenhagen, and Professor Alan A. Lew from the Department of Geography, Planning, and Recreation, Northern Arizona University, USA. Both Dianne and Alan have extensive knowledge within the topic of coastal/marine tourism and particularly around issues on governance, policymaking and management related to coastal and marine tourism development.
