Sea and Society talks is a series of lunch seminar at the Gothenburg University focusing on the UN sutainable development goals. The seminars link goal 14 ”Life below water” with the other 16 goals. The idea is to give a short introduction to the topic and invite to discuss how researchers at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers can help in achieving a sustainable society.

Anders Ekbom will in his seminar describe goal 8 and its targets and conflicting interests between economic growth and sustainable development, and possible ways forward by promoting a green economy and green jobs.
Anders Ekbom is an economist (PhD) focusing on environmental economics and strategic environmental assessment, but also working as deputy dean at GMV, University of Gothenburg¿s and Chalmers¿ joint centre for promoting research, education and cooperation on sustainable development (gmv.chalmers.gu.se).
